I've been watching Jojo for over a year now and yet, just a month or two ago I finally finished part 1 when my brother physically threw me on the couch to watch it. Part 1 was good but felt stretched out and boring. It's not that I don't like worldbuilding, its just I couldn't get into the characters.
Then my brother made me watch part 2 and MY GOD IT WAS AMAZING! It had flaws, like Smokey just being thrown out the window for the entire season and Suzie Q not being well done but I didn't care. I loved the pillar men, more than Dio in fact. They had great motives and seeing their shreds of humanity was fascinating. Joseph was absolutely the best. I miss cocky, hot headed characters with good morals and Joseph was the craving I was...well craving. I surprisingly felt for characters like Caesar and Lisa Lisa and cared about what they were doing and what was happening to them. I most definitely want to cosplay as Lisa Lisa now.
Now part 2 was godly and a blast to watch but I was filled with dread when I had to start part 3. You see, I took a quick look at Tumblr and got excited for part 3 because everyone seemed to like it. I mean there was so much fanart (even if it was cringy as fuck)
So I turned to my brother (who absolutely loves Jojo) and told him I was excited for part 3. Its his least favorite part.
I'm on episode 3 now and I see why my brother disliked it. It doesn't have the Jojo glow. Part 2 had really fun bright colors but part 3 has been skimping out on those. Other than calling people bitches, Jotaro doesn't really have any gag moments. The production quality has gone up a bit which ruins the low budget 80s anime vibes and means that there's less effort in still frames. The fights feel so unimaginative compared to part 2, where Joseph finds twists and turn for fights an they would take up a full episode. Kakyoin's first fight was so short and lacked the wit that I was expecting from Jojo.
Just gotta suffer for a season and then I get to chill with more entertaining characters and Kira.
Oh btw btw I decided that I'm going to cosplay as Jolyne even though I haven't read that part yet because she looks like she's fun to cosplay as and it means I have an excuse to dye my hair lime green and purple
