Addressing some DMs I've gotten

I said I'd delete my last blog post from a year and a half ago "in 3-4 weeks" and never actually did, so I'm not even gonna bother trying to say I'll delete this one since I already know I won't. Just finished the Love Live Sunshine movie (Over the Rainbow) and came on here to add it to my list, to see I've gotten 3 messages (on top of a few others I've gotten in the past regarding the same issue) asking me about WIXOSS. My review of the Selector movie really seems to have reached a lot more people than I ever expected it to, which makes me very happy. Every WIXOSS-related message I've gotten has asked, mostly, the same question: "I know you didn't wanna watch Lostorage because it was a new story, but the old Selector characters are back in the second season! Won't you give it a chance now?" So I'll use this blog post to explain myself. While, yes, the new story and characters did have to do with why I mostly ignored Lostorage after the first 3 episodes, that wasn't the whole reason. As someone who enjoyed literally all but a small fraction of the Monogatari series, and loves the Hunter x Hunter series start to finish, clearly revolving characters don't matter if the quality of the writing is still good. At the risk of disrespecting Mari Okada, who, up to Lostorage, wrote one of the most mind-blowingly good original anime series' of all time out of complete NOWHERE (total thin air, really), I do truly believe that Okada had planned on the series ending at Selector, but continued it for some reason (likely involving money, as this is a JC Staff series). The way everything was handled throughout Selector was perfect. The series had an absolutely incredible opening, a somewhat slow and at times mediocre rising action, but one of the all-time greatest climaxes and a great conclusion to wrap everything up within the mostly-recap movie. But then, all of a sudden, there's a new series? And, despite it seeming like it could be a spinoff, it ends up being a sequel?? Why??? The fact that the original cast of Selector is back is, I guess, kinda cool. But that's it, really. It's just KINDA cool. To me, it doesn't change anything though. I think maybe Okada ran out of ideas and thought bringing back the time-tested cast that made everything great would help. And hell, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Lostorage ends up being good with Conflated bringing back the original cast. Maybe this was Okada's plan after all; despite this being her first real GREAT series as head writer (since she wasn't technically it for Nagi no Asukara, but instead just part of a bigger team), she does have tons of experience in the industry and is definitely capable of doing unconventional things like this. I don't know, and I don't know if I ever will. But, being one-and-a-quarter years off of the final episode release of Conflated with no new season or series confirmed, it does seem like the WIXOSS series is finally actually over. Hopefully, at least. I hoped the same thing after the Destructed movie too, and look what happened. So yeah, maybe I will get curious one day, and just binge through the entire Lostorage series just to see how things finally conclude. Who knows. Don't expect a review either way, though. Unless it somehow ends up being really good. Take care everyone!
