WARNING: BECAUSE OF REASONS I MUST TELL EVERYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18 TO GET OUT OF MY BLOG! OBEY OR I’LL BE DEFENESTRATED! ALSO BE WARY OF WILD ROAMING SPOILERS! YOU’VE BEEN WARNED! Welcome back. Last time we did the token game blog asking Garnet to keep Umi safe but she rejected that. Now we’re asking a different rich girl. : Good thing she’s on her mansion and not a hotel too! Boy, did that plotlines last long. Maybe it was reading it weekly but everything in this manga dragged on too much. : It was really dragged on quite honestly. Remember the plot where the main character went to throw out the garbage? It took 20 volumes so of course remember that. Man, was that some tough garbage. : Its power was maximum. : Hey, now! That never happened! Fair enough. But it really stretched thin things. : And then you would get chapters that were essentially infodumps. Yes, the author would suddenly remember shows are better with plots in them and would explain a lot of things ham-fistedly in some manner. : At least we had plot! : Better plot than “plot” since that was another issue. Exactly. This manga used to be about flat beauties and suddenly it went full mamocentric overnight. Screw the useless breasts chapter. : Yes. Who makes a chapter all about praising big breasts on a series with an art style like this? And of course the author mocked Hinagiku because clearly flat girls are popular despite and not for being flat. : Didn’t you complain about the Hinagiku bias too? Good point! Man, did they get annoying with the pink girl. Between the anime exclusive ending and insert song, all the random shipping chapters all the way to the last chapter, and constant shoehorning of her everywhere the series got old fast. : Meanwhile Ayumu got a metaphorical punt to the vagina. Indeed. Seems if you know the main guy before the story starts you will get the short end of the stick. Like Marika and many other childhood friends. : That reference is getting old… : Because your series didn’t date itself with constant topical references… And they were anachronisms too, since the series is supposed to be set in 2004 the whole time. : The author probably thought he was doing The Simpsons as both series are eternal. : Okay, enough is enough thus begin talking about ME and not my flawed series! Right, right. Time to talk about… : Good. : What’s with the apostrophe? That’s there to indicate you don’t read her last name sa-n-ze-ni-n but sa-n-ze-n-i-n which is slightly different. : That matters? I got tired of hearing “Shunka Nido” so yes it absolutely matters. : Thanks for the Japanese lesson outta nowhere. Now begin blogging! Body Hair Nagi has blonde hair. Typical for an ojou character but it’s not bad. The shade used in the second anime onwards is actually pretty nice. She has low twintails that look pretty cute, and we see her with her hair down every now and then which looks long and good. Her only issue are her generic bangs, though she has nice framing sidebangs if nothing else. Overall a decent start. Score: 7 Eyes Nagi has green eyes. At least they aren’t blue but green is still pretty damn generic with blonde hair. Shame. Nice tsurime though. She also wears glasses in official art, but regular ones. Still a nice thing. Score: 6 : Are glasses that great? I thought that fetish was old hat. Nonsense! Glasses are great and need more love! You should wear glasses more often! And Maria should too! : But then her character and Saki’s would overlap. Because character overlap is something authors care for when introducing the umpteenth fat cow? : Fair point. Go glasses fetish! Build Nagi excels here. She has basic measurements, meaning height and weight. With 138cm and 29kg girl is pretty thin, but not in a bad way. Sadly because Hata isn’t a good writer this means she has a flat chest and moans about that often for dumb reasons. But also mocks Hinagiku for being flatter. It’s all very stupid. That aside she looks good, being small and cute and all the usual jazz. She also gets a decent deal of fanservice before the franchise went full mamocentric which sucked. All in all Nagi isn’t perfect but she’s pretty good. Blood type AB case curious. Score: 9 Butt Nagi shows her ass every now and then. Even bare in the manga. It’s not amazing but better than nothing. Score: 6 : Hey, don’t call my ass that! Rude! *blushes* : Well, certainly it can’t compare to my huge ass! *moons Nagi for proof* : Wow, this makes me really jealous… Better ass jealousy than chest one! But you’re cute still! *fondles Nagi’s loli ass* : HEY! *blushes* It felt good, but continue blogging! Clothes Nagi does well here. While her default clothes and school uniform are nothing special, other than often wearing thighhighs, the alternate costumes she gets every now and then are cool. The maid costume from early manga and the sukumizu from the first anime are the best ones. She also looks fancy sometimes, like on parties and such. Not too bad overall. Score: 8 Mind Personality Nagi is fairly likable. She’s basically the principal inheritor of the Sanzen’in family and a rich girl. However she’s kinda spoiled but not too bad, and also an otaku and mild hikkikomori that likes playing games and avoids school whenever possible. One fateful Christmas Eve she meets main guy Hayate who tries to kidnap her because he needs money, but Nagi thinks he’s asking her out and gets flustered. Long short story she pays the debt though afterwards makes him her butler to pay that debt off. Lots of wacky stuff then happens, included Nagi giving away her inheritance but getting it back and the terrible doujinshi contest arc. Eventually Hayate ends revealing the depressing truth about their meeting and pays his debt but the two still end together thankfully. And now you don’t have to read 52 volumes of a slowly decaying manga. Good personality too. Like said Nagi is quite the otaku and loves anime and manga of many types, and also video games of many kinds. There’s even a great scene early on the manga while she lists a large variety for both things that she has read/watched/played though sadly our manga release horribly gutted that scene. No wonder it sold like crap. That aside, the girl also likes to draw but does incomprehensible manga with ridiculous and complicated settings and terrible art. She improves over time, though the arc about it is beyond awful. It drags for over a year of going in circles and ends with her winning out of pity and said ending being retconned for whatever reason years later to have her win become even more undeserved. Like said, avoid this manga. Even if Nagi is a cute dere-dere girl with funny moments and a good friend. Watch the first and third anime case somehow need to get in the franchise. Score: 8.5 Reception Nagi is mixed bag here, but mostly good. She’s the main heroine and thus has good screentime, even surviving the Hinagiku bias because pink characters love hogging the spotlight. What hurts the score is the fans who keep slamming hard on her and everyone who isn’t their beloved Hinagiku really because the most popular character in a series with shipping always attracts the most obnoxious fans. Rem says hello. That and the crappy terrible doujinshi battle arc hurt Nagi here sadly, but she’s overall solid regardless. Score: 7 Libido Nagi is pretty great. Despite being called “tsundere” by bad fans she’s not tsundere, that’s more Hinagiku if anyone from the show. Nagi is actually pretty overt about her love for Hayate though sadly the couple has many woes and issues to drag the thing over 50 freaking volumes. Winning helps though. Score: 9 : Why do people call me tsundere anyway? Because people think all lolis voiced by Rie Kugimiya are tsundere. Despite the fact that Shana the instigator of this is not tsundere! Hell, the girl is borderline kuudere at the start. : Anime fans are idiots, nothing new. Can you believe people favor the even seasons of my franchise over the odd ones just because they adapt manga stuff? Yeah, sad when the first and third seasons are a lot more fun like said. People are blinded by “muh canon” and deserve being shot out of a cannon instead. : One aiming at a wall with spikes. Age Nagi is actually only 13 years old, which is great for blog purposes. She is a bit older during the epilogue but half a chapter doesn’t mean much. Birthday is the 3rd of December for the curious. Score: 10 Voice Rie Kugimiya is always great. Though the second season aired during a summer she had like seven roles and got a bit grating. Also shame on fans acting like her and Shana/Taiga/Louise are very similar for having the same voice and being flat when that’s where the similarities end. Score: 9.5 Total: 80 - Excellent : Hey, that score is fairly good! Thanks for that! Certainly! Your hair and eyes aren’t my thing much but otherwise you’re pretty great. Though I still like Isumi and Ayumu the most. Can’t believe I’ve ended covering four girls from this series though. : Certainly. But sadly I can’t let Umi stay here. What if Hayate falls for her elegant charms? I’d be more worried if Nozomi or Mari were the girls. But fair enough, time to look elsewhere. Farewell! *leaves* : What now? I’m not giving up on the gamer ojou girls. This time, let’s try asking one that won’t talk back! : More like she doesn’t talk period…
