Hello! Not too much to discuss in the introduction for this week. I finished two new anime this time around and I talk about them below.... Yeah, that’s about all I got! Laters!! ^_^
"Watching" Ano Natsu de Matteru (Waiting in the Summer) Ansatsu Kyoushitsu (Assassination Classroom) Ao Haru Ride (Blue Spring Ride) Barakamon Chihayafuru Dr. Stone: Completed! - After watching the first 7 episodes of this with Dan, I honestly was not expecting to fall in love with this series as much as I did! Thankful, Dan finally told me that I could watch this one on my own as he was least interested in this out of the stuff we had fallen behind on together. So I ended up watching 11 episodes of this last Sunday and finished off the last 6 the day after. And as mentioned, I loved it! It ended up getting a full 10 score from me and currently sits at #38 on my anime/manga series ranking. The scientific process explored in the series is just a ton of fun to watch. And while I liked Senku well enough from the beginning and was immediately charmed by Kohaku, I truly began to love the characters of this series once the larger supporting cast began to be introduced. I especially love Gen, Suika, and the old craftsman Kaseki. And really, with only a few exceptions, I like or at least find something interesting in all of the characters in the series. And yeah, being able to get into the characters is typically a very big factor in my enjoyment of a work of fiction overall. The only little issue that I have with the series is that for me, the level of suspension of disbelief that I have to employ in relation to some aspects of the village is a little high for my tastes; mainly when it comes to how small its population is. Just seems a bit odd to me. But yeah, other than that, I really love the series! While I don’t think I’d ever get into the manga unless it ends up stopping at a relatively short length (unlikely for a Shounen Jump title), I’ll probably never read it. But hopefully I’ll never have to in order to get the full story, as it looks like it might be going the My Hero route with new seasons of the anime being released ever so often! OVA Majimoji Rurumo Michiko to Hatchin Mouretsu Pirates (Bodacious Space Pirate) Mouryou no Hako Mushishi Nagato Yuki-chan no Shoushitsu (The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan) Ouran Koukou Host Club Pingu in the City: Completed! - Ahhh, everyone’s favorite kids-show-turned-meme! When this Japanese version of the franchise began to air, a ton of people on MyAnimeList gave it a 10 as a joke, launching it near the very top of the MAL Top Anime rankings. I had watched the first episode out of morbid curiosity at the time, but never got around to continuing it. Since then, after a number of people fought back against this joke up-voting by giving the series 1 scores instead, and others gave the series honest moderate scores, the series has fallen out of the top rankings, but is still at a “respectable” spot of #132 at the time of writing this. Anyway, so what I did I think of it?? Well, it was an alright kids anime which I gave a 6 score. It had cute and clean art/animation, the 7-minute episodes didn’t overstay their welcome too often, and the no-dialog storytelling was pretty easy to follow even if it was kind of hollow a lot of the time. So yeah, an alright little series.
