This is another anime I've never watched a single episode of in my life
Unlike Dragon Ball, I have definitely seen Digimon on TV... like a few times. And every single time for whatever reason I watch a few seconds of one of the episodes, next I know it, I change the channel lol, just like with Yu-Gi-Oh honestly (like I'm trying to watch Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Masters now but like seriously I just can't stand the art in that franchise at all... Also all the cards are just cards? Like that's it??? hmm might have to drop it idk but it is a long lasting series, and I'm a really big fan of trying to complete long lasting series tbh lol so hmm hmmmmm lol)
Anyway, I guess it was because when I was little, I always kind of felt like this anime was trying too hard to be like Pokemon? Though I don't know I never really watched it.
While I'm at it I might as well try to watch Yokai Watch too...
Anyway, I finally decided to watch Digimon Adventure, because it was recommended as my top recommendation on anime graph plus for quite some time now, so, why not! lol lololol lol

For whatever reason the audio on these dubs are a bit f*cked on my end. Like the theme song is the original Japanese theme song and the audio is all messed up. I must be the only person experiencing his since nobody else is really talking about it in the comments.

While the Kissanime community discussion board main pagae anime for Dragon Ball dubbed seemed so energetic... The Digimon Adventure one for dub on Kisanime seem so... aggressive??? Annddd not in a good way tbh
Well ok I guess I'm starting this now?
-
Yeaah I had to look up the theme song for the dubbed because the Kissanime dub version has the original Japanese intro... I like the dub better tbh but ok

If I had to be honest, I think especially since I came from watching Dragon Ball to this, and the random influx of anime I've been watching recently.
I think I can definitely start to see why people call anime you know "cartoons" derogatorily. I mean, even just by first episode, I feel like these shows are so... shallow?
Maybe I think this way, because the first anime I ever watched was the 2003 version of Fullmetal Alchemist. It was mature straight from the getgo. No frills. Wasn't... really all that happy overall actually.
Other first anime I watched were Ouran High School, DNAngel (thoguh I mostly read the manga barely watched the anime but overall don't remember a thing tbh lol uhhh)... I mean, these are by no means the most mature anime on the planet. But they're definitely a lot more mature than Pokemon, Digimon, etc etc
I don't know.
And like I said I never really watched Pokemon as a kid... Never watched Dragon Ball or Digimon until today. I guess in comparison, shounen anime are really... childish.
But unlike people who simply shrug off anime as childish cartoons, I mean I'm willing to give these anime a chance. Maybe there's really more than meets the eye first glance.

uhmmm
what the hell?!? lol
Honestly the dub and sub already feel like two completely different anime
The sub is a narrator who is an old man literally just stating the name of characters. That's it
But in the dub, the main characater IS the narrator and even describing each character we see on screen.
-
This anime seems pretty good based off of what I've seen so far ngl
-
Koromon sounds a lot cuter in the Japnaese version though. Well. Koromon in Japanese... the voice is SO CUTE
Dub Koromon is just godawful idk what was going on there lol
Also I have to look through the sub anyway just to read the text because according to someone on the discussion board the dub version is like some kind of bootleg dub where it's really just the Japanese opening and Japanese version with dub audio... which makes it really hard to make out what the text is trying to say... I know I could just translate it myself, but honestly I find it's just too much work idk lol

If I had to be honest, in a lot of ways, I'd say the Digimon anime is actually a lot better than the Pokemon one... And that's coming from someone who literally played every single generation of Pokemon (well lol except for Sword & Shield, but I actually have enough money to buy that game now so I might actually end up buying Sword tomorrow?
Digimon the anime actually has a story to it, unlike Pokemon, but technically you can count Indigo League as more of a slice of life tbh but what's mainly getting me to watch Pokemon really is all the nostalgia. With Digimon I have no nostalgia whatesoever... But now I'm kind of sad I spent so many years dissing Digimon when it's actually really good...
Though honestly I have no idea what kind of merch this anime even sells... Watches? Do people just collect plushies of the Digimon? I honestly have no idea but I digress
